Taking the Boardroom to Black Tiger Coffee Co.

As much as I love being a freelancer and working from home, sometimes you just need to get out and have conversations with real people. So when it’s time for client meetings, I am more than thrilled to try out somewhere cool, cozy, and chic.

So when I find rare gems like Black Tiger Coffee Co., it’s an easy “yes!” when my clients want to meet for coffee.

Black Tiger Coffee Co.

Located just off of Fraser Hwy near 64th Avenue, this small, but spacious coffee shop has been open for almost two years now. With plenty of bright daylight, even on a rainy afternoon, the atmosphere inside Black Tiger Coffee Co. is simple, inviting and designed with getting outside of your home office in mind. There are outlets to plug in your laptop all around the cafe, and long tables to meet with friends or host a little informal business conversation.

49th Parallel coffee

I personally am a big fan of a converted industrial space and that is exactly the vibe that greets you as you enter this Surrey based coffee shop. High ceilings and raw wood pair perfectly with their $5 donut and Americano deal. Oh, right! The donuts!

Colourful, drool-worthy and perfectly Instagram-able, their donut line up changes each day and there’s always something simply sweet to indulge in. Pair that with a freshly brewed 49th Parallel coffee or a beautiful espresso drink and you’ve got your morning work session made.

But what if donuts or sugary carbs ( I feel you, friend, I do) are not doable in your lifestyle right now? No fear; check out their gourmet, open-faced toast and sandwich line up or the fresh, in-house poke bowls. I’ve had some gorgeous gluten-free avocado toast here before, so this time I indulged in the salmon and avocado poke bowl.

Full of tasty tidbits, it was well balanced and absolutely fresh tasting. I loved the spiciness of the ginger against the soft and smooth avocado. The saltiness of the roe eggs gave everything an extra boost. And the spicy mayo dressing was the perfect way to bring it all together. I was very pleased to find such a healthy and well made lunch option to pair with my second coffee.

If you’re looking for somewhere to meet a friend, a client or to buckle down and get some work done, I truly urge you to consider Black Tiger Coffee the next time you’re looking for some where new to try.
